What I had to do was download the driver for the adapter from the oem, dlink. I have one laptop that has wifi pcie and lan connection. I had shut off the wifi some time ago as I was not using it. What I noticed was on every boot, the wifi light up for a brief few seconds. I decided to turn on the wifi again just to check the strength of the adapter.

I had turned it on by pressing the button on the laptop, but it did not show active white light. I then checked the hp connection manager and it was set to not connected. If the adapter is controlled by asus or intel I would install for that one. I would first check power settings and device manager and see if it is just going to sleep. Then, can you try this?
